Spidersilk is a musical magic-maker & dreamer of dreams, drawing inspiration from the natural world and metaphysical reality to weave a sensual, sonically uplifting experience through your body and mind...
"I think compassion and understanding are so important to the future of humanity," Spidersilk says. "What better way for human beings to come together than through music? When you let yourself get into the heartspace of someone else's groove, when you can really feel their rhythm, then you can 'dance a mile in their shoes'. Music can help us feel like we're all connected... To me, that's what 'weaving it all together' is about: Finding that universal emotional message in the sound and tying seemingly unrelated elements together in a way that resonates with listeners and the dancefloor."
A sonic omnivore who got her humble DJ start in the goth/industrial scene, Spidersilk's tastes have always ranged far and wide; she enjoys listening to everything from classical to jazz to drum & bass to hip-hop to funk to trance, depending on her mood.
Today she best enjoys expressing herself on the decks through progressive house, tech house, & techno, though she is known to occasionally flow into a softer downtempo mode and lay down a relaxing ambient/trip-hop set, great for for chill lounges and rainy days. Her musical influences are as many as the stars in the sky, including the likes of BT, Sasha, Carl Cox, Green Velvet, Imogen Heap, Ryuchi Sakamoto, Jean Michel Jarre, Joe Hisaishi, Anjunabeats, Massive Attack, Grimes, Eric Whitacre, Depeche Mode, Goldie, Guy J, Jamie Stevens, Cid Inc., Deep Forest, Aphex Twin, Gus Gus, & Trentemøller, to name a few.
Since making her debut on the Vegas strip in 2007 with Sanctuary at Krave, she hasn't slowed down, rockin' hearts all over Vegas and beyond: Vector, The Muse, Brass Lounge, Vanguard Lounge, The Rio, Artisan, Ghostbar, Mob Bar, Body English, and The Church in Dallas. She has held residencies at local Vegas underground nights such Re-Animate, Carpe Noctem, Cloister & The Factory, and has opened for several notable acts including Voltaire, Marquis of Vaudeville, Straftanz and VNV Nation.
Spidersilk has worked with EDMNightlife.com to cover events, DJs, and Producers in the Las Vegas nightlife scene. She's served several years as Head DJ for Slave of the Muse Promotions, creating auditory art for their semi-annual masquerade balls, and moonlights as steampunk pirate-queen alter-ego DJ Scarlett Scarborough, hosting her series of "Le Salon Du Coeur Libre" events around downtown Vegas.
Playing piano since the age of 4 and writing her own compositions throughout childhood, Spidersilk's always been musically inspired and eager to learn. She is studying digital music production and is working on her upcoming podcast and blog, Sonic Threads with Spidersilk, featuring ethnomusicology and cultural sounds from around the world. So open your ears and go with Spidersilk on a musical journey...
